Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship Program

Cardiology fellows 2025 - Dr. Hiten Patel

Program Director's Statement:

“Our newly approved (2025) three-year ACGME-accredited Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship Program at Southeastern Regional Medical Center provides a broad exposure to the prevention, diagnosis, and management of various acute and chronic cardiovascular diseases in a rural health setting. We promote diversity in our program and encourage all motivated applicants to apply through ERAS. Our focus is on providing outstanding clinical and academic training through our robust didactic lectures and dedicated faculty who serve as active mentors to our fellows. We strive to provide evidence-based cardiovascular care delivered with a patient-first approach. We do provide platforms for research opportunities and are committed to training tomorrow's leaders in the field of cardiology. We are the proud recipient of the Platinum performance achievement award in 2025 for STEMI.

UNC Health Southeastern is in Lumberton, a small town in southeast NC. The Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship began in July 2025. Our program is approved by the ACGME with 6 total positions (2 spots per year).

We encourage all applicants to apply through ERAS. Application materials submitted via email, fax, mail or any online resource other than ERAS will not be accepted or reviewed."
