Jersey Mike’s of Lumberton’s “Day of Giving” Campaign Ranks #1 in NC for Total Funds Raised

Jersey Mike’s of Lumberton and the UNC Health Southeastern Foundation celebrated a successful Day and Month of Giving campaign with a check presentation to mark $20,720 raised for the overall campaign.

The restaurant ranked first in the entire state of North Carolina for funds raised for the March 26 “Day of Giving,” where 100 percent of sales were earmarked for the local beneficiary. The funds will be used by UNC Health Southeastern for electronic communication boards deployed throughout the hospital.

“We trusted our community would eat a sub and make a difference, and our community exceeded our expectations,” said UNC Health Southeastern Foundation Executive Director Sissy Grantham. “We could not be more grateful for the continued commitment Jersey Mike’s of Lumberton has made to our healthcare system and community’s health. The Foundation is grateful to be a part of incorporating the digital
communication boards and the impact they will have on our patients’ experiences.”

The Lumberton location was also recognized for finishing 21st in the entire nation for total bread count on the Day of Giving (bread = 1 giant loaf).

“At Jersey Mike’s of Lumberton, giving back is at the heart of everything we do, and this year’s Day of Giving was truly something special,” said Daniel Terracciano, co-owner of the establishment along with his wife, Jamie. “To see our community come together with such enthusiasm and generosity — and to rank #1 in North Carolina — is incredibly humbling. We’re proud of our team and we are honored to support UNC Health Southeastern and help bring life-changing tools to patients and families. This isn’t just about subs — it’s about making a real difference.”

To date, the UNC Health Southeastern Foundation has raised close to $315,000 through various initiatives to support the integration of electronic communication boards throughout the medical center. The modernized, individual monitors, eventually available in every room, are designed to improve patient communication, experience, coordination of care, and safety.

The digital communication boards replace traditional dry-erase boards you currently see in most hospital patient rooms. With information that is up-to-the-minute accurate, patients and their concerned families can benefit from knowing their overall treatment plan including: mobility status, fall risk, scheduled procedures and testing, nutritional needs, and much more.
