Benefits of Bariatric Surgery
Proven Clinical Outcomes
Significant, Durable Weight Loss
50–80% excess weight loss depending on procedure, maintained long-term with appropriate follow-up.
Type 2 Diabetes Resolution
Up to 80–90% of patients experience remission or significant improvement — often before meaningful weight loss occurs.
Cardiovascular Risk Reduction
Significant reduction in blood pressure, cholesterol, cardiac events, and stroke risk.
Sleep Apnea Improvement
Greater than 80% of patients experience resolution or major improvement in obstructive sleep apnea.
Joint Pain & Mobility
Reduced load on joints leads to decreased pain and improved function — often reducing or eliminating the need for joint replacement.
Mental Health & Quality of Life
Consistent improvements in depression, anxiety, self-esteem, and overall quality of life.
Reduced Long-Term Mortality
Bariatric surgery is associated with a 30–40% reduction in long-term all-cause mortality.
What Patients Should Know
Common Patient Concerns
“Is surgery safe?”
Bariatric surgery is safer than many common elective procedures. The risk of untreated severe obesity far exceeds the surgical risk.
“Will insurance cover it?”
Most major insurance plans cover bariatric surgery for eligible patients. We handle the prior authorization process.
“How long is recovery?”
Most patients go home the day after surgery and return to light activity within 2–3 weeks.
“Will I have to follow a special diet forever?”
Patients follow a structured diet progression and develop healthy long-term habits. Our team guides them every step of the way.
