WoodHaven honored with Health Care Hero Award

WoodHaven Nursing, Alzheimer’s and Rehabilitation Center, an affiliate of UNC Health Southeastern, was recently honored with the North Carolina Health Care Facilities Association’s 2022 Health Care Hero Award.

The award is presented for sacrifices and dedication to the long-term care profession to honor the heroes who care for residents.

“While this has been an extremely challenging time for us throughout the pandemic, we appreciate the recognition of our team in their efforts to keep our residents safe and our facility running as smoothly as possible,” said UNC Health Southeastern Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Lori Dove, whose responsibility areas include WoodHaven.

WoodHaven implemented and continues to follow pandemic guidelines as set by numerous agencies including the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services, Centers for Disease Control, and other regulatory agencies.

Efforts were made to connect patients with their family members as quickly and as safely as possible within guidelines. Technology was deployed and staff enhanced their activities within the facility in order for residents to feel a sense of community while staying safe.

WoodHaven provides skilled nursing care, as well as a 15-bed Alzheimer’s unit and a short-term rehabilitation wing. To learn more, call (910) 671-5703.
