Southeastern Wound Healing Center recognized for clinical excellence in patient satisfaction and wound healing rates

Wound Healing CenterSoutheastern Wound Healing Center has been named a recipient of the Center of Distinction award by Healogics®, the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services. SWHC achieved outstanding clinical outcomes for 12 consecutive months, including patient satisfaction rates higher than 92 percent and a minimum wound healing rate of at least 92 percent within 28 median days to heal. There were 555 centers eligible for the Center of Distinction award and 278 achieved the honor. This is the 12th year SWHC has earned the award.

“Southeastern Wound Healing Center continues to consistently provide optimal care to the patients of Robeson and surrounding counties,” said Anita Thurman, DNP, FNP-C, UNC Health Southeastern Director of Maternal Child Health Services as well as Southeastern Wound Healing Center. “Many of these patients have complex wounds with extensive medical histories, however, year after year, our center has received this distinction through individualizing care and healing patients one by one. Our organization is extremely proud of the hard work displayed by this team and happy to provide this service to our community.”

SWHC, an affiliate of UNC Health Southeastern and managed by Healogics, a network of over 600 Wound Care Centers® which offer highly-specialized wound care to patients suffering from diabetic foot ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections and other chronic wounds which have not healed in a reasonable amount of time.

Advanced wound care modalities provided by our wound care experts include negative pressure wound therapy, total contact casting, bio-engineered tissues, biosynthetic dressings and growth factor therapies. The Center also offers hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which works by surrounding the patient with 100 percent oxygen to help progress the healing of the wound.
